GASOLINE/ACETONE
Many manufacturers of fish oil supplements use either hexane (gasoline) or acetone (nail polish remover) to extract the oil. These solvents are very difficult to remove. The levels of these residual solvents
are usually in the range of 50 parts
per billion.
HEAVY METALS
(mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium)
Adverse effects from ingesting heavy metals can include cognitive impairments, nervous system dysfunction, blindness, lack of coordination, deafness, development of certain cancers, irreversible liver and kidney damage and death.
PCB's
PCB’S are banned chemicals since 1970 but has polluted the sea and fish. It has been proven to be dangerous to mankind in terms of brain disease, cancer and disruptors of hormone function. When you extract crude fish oil, you are also extracting large amounts of PCB’s. Only an Omega 3 fatty acid that has total PCB levels of lower than 5parts per billion (ppb) should be considered pure.
